I was a youngster at 49 when I did my best HM.
Steve, when I started taking the Running Magazine circa 1983/4, Bruce Tulloh was a regular columnist on training & training schedules. I think Cliff Temple was also a frequent contributor.

After a nice weekend walking in the hills, it was back to running today. 22 miles to complete Leg 1 of the Virtual Great Glen Race 😀

There was also a Magazine called "Running Fitness," and I have, and still use an RF sport Aerobic Mat.
Today is a rest day and I have done 60 seconds front plank, and 25 pressups.

Impressive, hillstrider. I can feel most of my non-leg muscles turning to jelly as I sit at this desk!
5 more miles this morning in the pleasant mild weather. It was almost sunny at one point....
I needed to vary my route slightly to go past the ATM to get cash for some folding bikes we're going to see this evening. "Caravan accessories"!
So my weekend running mileage will probably be down. We have got a caravan site booked for a couple of nights. (MrsMMM is very happy!)

Anyone who starts running quite late in life and posts PB's obviously has done exceedingly well. But the science ( current trend!!) shows that ability on every physical level diminishes as years go by, especially after mid thirties ( thus the masters/vets age grouping). One can cite every elite runner and note their slowing down. If a forty odd year old does a PB and they started late they logically could have run much faster in their twenties... Annoying but true. Enjoy running for what it is without fretting too much about speed as the years tick by.

Well done Dave, that was an impressive 22 miles Monday. You're certainly clocking up the miles.

LOL FF. Probably should have said I still intend to run before the w/e!
On my run this morning I went past my official place of work It's still there (!) but with "No Entry" signs on 4 of the 5 doors.
I'll stick with my virtual commutes for a good while longer, I expect.
