Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I started running in my late 30s, sometime in 1983 (about 37 years ago), having no clue about training etc., until I started reading the predecessor to 'Runners World'. There have been times when the running has become rather occasional and almost non-existent, like when I was doing 2 'full-time' jobs and working long hours.

No running today, which as usual is my rest day, but tomorrow I shall probably do 5 miles.

Evangel, was that "Today's Runner?" I believe that there was also a magazine called "Jogging," but I'm not sure about that. I like "Trail Running " magazine.

I started running properly in 2010, hoping to keep going into old age. I'm almost 36 so a long way to go. I didn't log miles till I got a Garmin in 2011.

I ran a half this morning, was supposed to be my first post baby race. I did 2.11 which isn't my slowest, I am nowhere near what I would like to be and my fastest is 18 minutes quicker. 🀞 I can gain back some speed.

I'm sure you'll gain your speed back in time Lesley. You have plenty to juggle now so running probably isn't a priority but occasionally perhaps a necessity πŸ˜‰ Take care and it's good to see you here again occasionally πŸ™‚

Started running in 2011

Restarted running this month after a month off but it’s slow ...

I mean, just how much can a stone slow you down? πŸ˜‚

HS, I'm not sure but I think it was 'The Running Magazine', or just 'Running'.

Peter, if you've mysteriously gained a stone in a month, then almost certainly it will feel a great deal more than that! You may need 2 or 3 weeks of training to get back to where you were.

Lesley, as your PB for the HM was less than 3 years ago, it shouldn't take too long to get back to sub-2hr. You are young, you have an ideal build for running, and your previous PBs suggest that you should be able to get back to your former running fitness quite easily with the right training. I'm more than twice your age and I'm getting progressively slower, whereas you are bound to get faster.

Sounds like a good weekend was had by all!

I always look at the table with interest on a Sunday night to see (a) whether FF has caught up yet (it'll happen!) and (b) how many people have overtaken me on Sunday when I don't usually run. :-) Day of rest and all that. (Not!!)
