Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

A year already! How? Mind you my baby is 14 now (and my oldest is 23).

This GVRAT is exhausting me. My speed has gone right down as my legs are always tired. I could, and should stop, but I have started so I feel the need to finish.

That's a very nice hair do MrsB! I think that it is inevitable that your speed will suffer whilst you are doing such a high mileage. You will have noticed that I have reduced mine considerably this year.

Well done for your mileage so far this year Lesley. It's unbelievable that your baby is nearly a year old. Have you had any more thoughts about getting a baby buggy? Several of the club's ladies have recommended getting a second hand one if possible, as they grow out of them so quickly. Hope you have a lovely party for babies birthday!🎂

I did my fastest 5k of the year this morning in the forest in 26.19, an average pace of 8.29 mileage. Very pleased as only 2 days after the clubs virtual 10k challenge.

I'm lucky as I've curly hair which only gets cut every 6-8 months so not even due yet lol

You've done amazing in the GVRAT Mrs B. I had a great May but tailing off since as was just too tired!

Amazing milage Lesley. You can see my rather lean years from 2011-2013 after having my two 😋

Thanks, we had a great day although too much cake. I really can't believe it's a year. It has been slow but also fast, it's been a rollercoaster that's for sure. Running gives me the space I need, I'm aiming for a marathon again next year if things are more normal.

Lesley, is it possible for a runner to have too much cake? That's what keeps us going, and it has always helped me to stay skinny!

HS, well done on your 5k time. 26:19 would be my dream time, and that would give me a WAVA of 70%!

This morning we visited the running track at Ammanford. It's the first time since lockdown that I've been able to do anything resembling speedwork. I did 6x400m.(+200m. jog RBI), and a little later I did a TT of 1200m. That gives me a benchmark for the months ahead.

No running this weekend.
Instead, 14 miles walking on the Speyside Way.
Then 1/2 a mile from finishing, turned my ankle over.
Its now swollen & bruised. So no running for a bit 😕

Will rest up and see how it is in a few days

I always knew walking was bad for you ;-)

Thanks Evangel, my WAVA was 70.8%. Well done getting back on the running track for some speed work! Regular structured training will definitely produce improvements to your average pace.

Dave_K that was a very long walk, and sorry to hear that you turned your ankle over. A few days rest is certainly the best remedy. The only time I walked further than that was when I was a teenager and did the London to Brighton walk.

Ooo - nasty Dave! Ice (both on joint and in drink of choice) is called for.

14 miles this morning, not fast, but I didn't stop to faff at all.

Hope your ankle is better soon Dave.

A hot 12 miles for me today, work off the cake from yesterday. Evangel, I had a 1/4 of a massive cake with cream and berries, I'm still trying to shift a few kgs so that is too much.
