Good news HS. well done Lesley hopefully a sign you’re over the worst.

Anybody running take care out there not worth risking a fall if it’s icy.

Thanks LL! I don't run on Fridays which is just as well. I did the usual Farmers Walk, and the pavements were frosty, but not icy.

I'm glad that I keep my car in the garage, as I don't have the nightmare of scraping the ice off the windscreen. I can remember many years ago, owning an old car, having to remove the spark plugs and warm them in the oven, to enable me to start up the car 😨

Good news on the MOT hs and fingers crossed you’re in the mend Lesley

I’m about to go out now it’s still a fairly hard frost out there. Now is Santa bringing me my new trainers with great grip or am I buying them… I should t offer up my purchases to Santa.

Well done on the farmers walk to hs. we went for a walk last night but cut it short it was lethal but after a day in the office my head was banging and needed fresh air.

Beautiful run and happened across some lovely deer in the woods this afternoon. Very icy & slippy but stunningly gorgeous on the trails.

That's "real" winter up there Lesley! Glad you're feeling a bit better and able to run again.
Wise to cut short your run when it's precarious gg but what a treat to see a deer

At least when we had to take out spark plugs we didn't depend on computerised diagnostics to fire up the engine hs. I recall people having to turn the engine over with those winders through the front below the bonnet! Or pushing the car.

Minus 3c this morning and not my kind of weather, pretty it may be with frost but doesn't suit me. Doing a measly two miles was enough but it looks like I'll complete my best annual total for five years just by doing short runs.

Consistent miles really add up Steve my friend only started running Jan 2020 she is over 800m this year with 3-4 runs a week around 3m and one longer run with me at the weekend. I’m loving I’ve got her enjoying the chatty runs together.

When I learnt to drive my dad signed me up for car maintenance lessons I learnt how to do a service on my car if it wasn’t running right I could tend to work out the answer and fix it. As you say new cars are impossible I don’t even think i can put oil in now! I always said id love to rebuild an old car or even better build a kit car (my husband and his dad did both he built a Merlin it was beautiful)

I’m off to decathlon with geordiemum today and I may sneak out for a couple of miles later.

Thanks GG, and thanks for posting the lovely pictures.

That was a good idea, your Dad signing you up for car maintenance. You are right that it is nigh on impossible to do anything but the most basic servicing nowadays.

I remember laying under the car, struggling to undo the nut to drain the oil out, and squeezing hydraulic oil into the gear box. Happy days.

Enjoy the Decathlon.

I used to do all my own car servicing Steve, including even removing and replacing a starter motor in my Dad's car.

I remember those starting handles, although I never had a car that had one. Bump starting was once common. Remember pulling out the choke too far and flooding the engine!
Well done for running in the cold 🥶

LL, it was also minus 6 degrees in the car this morning when we set off for the Bartley parkrun.

Very well done for your sub 30 parkrun this morning. You were much quicker than me. I thought I was running well, but my lungs were burning from breathing in the icy cold wind, which probably accounts for my disappointing performance. I ran 32.17, which is my 3rd slowest at Bartley. I was 64th out of 83 runners.

I'm looking forward to the England v France match this evening 😀
