Steve, I had visions of you burying your cat together with the damaged orthotic in your back garden. Presumably, that would be a very fertile patch in years to come! On the subject of quality & quantity training, I intended to do set of 4x600m. this morning, but I soon realised that my body, or at least the legs were not ready for it. The result - a steadyish paced run. I need to be flexible with what I do!

Like (a lot!) of folks I watched the Euros final with my wife, we both enjoyed the first half but thought of the term "negative splits" when the second half gave Italy "their turn". About equal all round I guess and penalties have a dose of luck attached to them; glad that it's all over now!
Good distances and pace for you hs; 600m would way beyond me currently Evangel, I think maybe I'd manage one!! I'm not in shape enough yet to "up" the schedule.
My orthotic was re surfaced at no cost; "Ace Feet in Motion" have provided my orthotics for very many years. Will be back running again tomorrow after a two day break which wasn't planned--extra time in the footie and I woke up late!

Good that your orthotic was resurfaced foc.
Hope you have a good run today. You will probably feel the benefit of two rest days.

Today is a rest day for me.

Thank LL, I hope you enjoy your swim, and a later run if you do it.

It's hot and sunny here, and I will be going for a forest run later this morning.

A disappointing four miler this morning with my poor pace/effort and heart rate suggesting I need a new engine or my batteries re charged. Goodness knows what's the best course of action when I've done eight weeks of intervals with no benefit ( ok..patience and persistence required!) and hills were to be next. I'm pretty much energyless despite paying attention to nutrition and basic physical tests/bloods all ok. Still plugging away at every other day too!

What would you folks do?!
Warm and sunny here and superb conditions to enjoy runs.

When I started running I was told to increase my long runs (run slowly), intervals / fartleks and tempo runs.

I shall be doing those again when I have got my body used to running again and I'm running more frequently.

Age is only a number, it will slow us down but complaining won't improve it, putting in the efforts hopefully will. πŸƒπŸƒπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

I’d say forget about poor pace. Look around you enjoy the scenery and be happy with what you can do. Look at what you can rather than what you can’t.

I did a 5k easy run yesterday morning only me on an isolated country road with the wind in my hair and felt so lucky to be healthy enough to be able to get out there.

Steve, I wonder if perhaps you need a complete break; perhaps a week or so away relaxing, and then maybe you will come back refreshed, and you will find a new lease of life as you ease back gently into running. Just a thought!
