It really does feel like the rungs on the (mileage) ladder are getting further apart!

Ran 8.6 miles in the forest this morning with 3 club mates. This included the 10k route which we will run on Thursday for the club's virtual 10k race.

I still have the very first issue of "Jogging Magazine" (March 1979, cost 50p) and it's successor " Running, incorporating Jogging Magazine", (Sept-Oct 1980, bi monthly, cost 60p). Front cover: Lesley Watson on "Jogging" and Ovett on the other one.

Afternoon all,

a steady 3.37m for me this morning..... got a bit of tug / niggle in the glutes but not enough to stop me yet.

Just recently throw several years worth of runners world out, as they were just gathering dust and clogging up the space...

Take care all

I think Evangel is right Lesley! Luckily you're at an age where getting back to previous pace is possible. Wouldn't be so likely if you were half a decade older.
My wife is struggling to get her pace back after a hip replacement but a good bit older than you and will have to work damned hard to knock off 1.5- 2 minutes a mile off her ultra pace...ugh!

Lesley - you can definitely make the speed back and more. I ran my fastest half marathon at 50!

Mine was at age 58.... but (a) I was a late starter and (b) I don't have the child-bearing physiology!

There are however some very swift slightly older ladies around - so Lesley you have loads of time to regain some additional speed.

None at all. I've also just done a full reset and hope 🤞 it's now sorted.

Thanks, I really hope I can. I am really struggling with hills at the moment, even small ones are hard work.
