Thanks LL, well done for the Victoria Dock parkrun, and good luck with today's 7 miles.

Thanks FF. I think that you made the right decision to catch up on your sleep, rather than parkrun tourism.

Thanks Jaks.

Thanks Lesley. Well done for yesterday's 13 miles, including a parkrun. I don't blame you for not pushing the pace during the parkrun, as 13 miles is tough enough as it is.

Thanks Steve, there was a good club turn out yesterday for Callums 30th birthday and my 100 runs and 25 volunteering duties.

I always double knot my laces on road trainers.

Well done for this mornings 4.2 miles in the puddles.

I think that hospitals are still in the dark ages with fax machines and XP computer systems. The government is supposed to be funding millions to upgrade everything. I hope your letter arrives soon.

I ran a solo hilly road 7k this morning feeling surprisingly good after yesterdays parkrun efforts. We are going to run in the forest tomorrow, no matter how wet and muddy it might be.

Sleep and recovery is important FF, what and when is your next event?

I don't have any races booked, I'm considering some local 10k's of which I shall only choose one if I decide to do one. Races are expensive to enter now and I don't have the money for races and going to Touring car races with my friend 2 or 3 times a year because that's even more expensive but more important since his 'escape' from death last year.

I must be honest I am more choosy what I book as it is an expensive hobby esp when Iā€™m motivated to just run myself anyway and most places are accessible.

Touring car races sound good fun and glad your friend escaped a serious situation last year. Reminds you the dangers are real.

A hilly 7k sounds a good session hs. Wet and muddy seems to be an on going theme, the trails I use became less so a few days ago but now back to what's become the usual.

4 2 miles on roads this morning, solo as usual and now light. I'm sort of glad I'm run/walking rather than all running because the couple of hills would require more effort than I can currently muster !
Running is no longer a cheap activity as it was in my early days. Races were generally arranged by running clubs and not cost prohibitive. They didn't cater for those who would run slower than 7.30 miling or thereabouts and so associated costs which are incurred by mass events were not there. And then the marathon arrived! I suppose that many events to run in nowadays are actually "events" and not really races so attract many more people of course . A nice thing on one level but can also exclude those on low incomes.

things have evolved and as a slow runner being more inclusive has to be a good thing there is so much to chose from now it can become a full time job.

I did get out yesterday the rain was heavy when I left home (to visit mam's first) so went in full waterproofs only to eventually set off for a run and within a short time it stopped raining. All set for a lunchtime escape its grey & cold but dry.

Well done on your 4.2 this morning steve, you're out and moving and thats important. Hope all goes well at the physio.

Yesterday's 7k went better than expected Steve. Well done for this mornings 4.2 miles run/walk on roads.

I remember well, the days when races consisted almost exclusively of "good" club runners.

It's just as well things have evolved GG, otherwise elderly runners like myself would be illegible to race.

Well done for getting out in the rain yesterday for a run.

This morning was a very tough 7.25 miles in the forest with the Monday Group. We chose a route that was mainly on good gravel trails, with little mud. It was a "proper" training run, rather than the usual Monday social chatty run.

We are meeting up at 1pm for a well deserved pub lunch šŸ˜€
