I have been known to self medicate with wine - so beer is obviously fine!

Your immune system will be bombarded like mad! I thought I'd be fine as I have 5 children at home, but still spent much of my first year with one bug or another. Lots of vitamin C and Zinc is a must. If you can remember to take the tablets, I keep forgetting!

Definitely, yes: in answer to Al's question, 'does beer count as fluids?' of the type which should be taken at times of lurgy. Or, as has already been observed, wine works too.

I broke the 800 mark last night! Less than 200 miles to go!

Awful run today. Was supposed to do 15 but bailed after 6miles. Foot was sore (very sore), but I can normally cope with that, but I think too much alcohol and far too little sleep last night was the main problem!

Maidenhead Half gets me 13.1 closer... Utterly shambolic start featuring an underpass that narrowed to about 3 abreast... otherwise a decent wee race.

This morning I ran up one of the mountains which Tour of Britain riders cycled up earlier in the week (yesterday I did it the easier way - running downwards). Even though it's a familiar run it felt, well, different and a little special to do it this weekend.

Agree with you KB about the shambolic start with the Maidenhead Half this morning. Twas a Club Grand Prix event for me. I just managed to get under 2 hours which was 15 minutes faster than my Budapest half time last Sunday. Looking forward to seeing how I well did on the age grading compared with other club runners. Royal Parks Half next in three weeks time.
