I've sorted out quite a few (but not all) of the bugs with the monthly infographic.
1) it should now show the correct 'most popular distance'
2) the left-hand-side of the HR graph should now be behaving for most users (and not shooting off to the left)
3) likewise, the cadence graph is now limited to 15 bars, working down from your highest values - so walks won't ruin your cadence on your running graphic.
4) missing benchmarks for 100k and 150k now in place.
Here's the link if you want to regenerate your graphic:
fetcheveryone.com/training-summary-monthlyinfographic.php
And as before, paste the code into the comments to draw my attention to any layout fruitiness.
NB if you're still seeing the broken version of your infographic, it's likely that your browser has cached it. Here's some useful advice on how to make your browser do a 'hard refresh': fabricdigital.co.nz

My walking for this month apparently has such a wide range of cadances that the labels become unreadable, and I'd also got some edge cases with small overlaps between the HR graph and either the pie chart (when I've run too fast...) or beats/km graphic (when I've done lots of slow ambling).

Here's a sneak preview of the monthly infographic:
I've got:
1) a few ideas for some things I can squeeze into the blank space (incl. how your month ranks against your own bests, and the site as a whole)
2) to work out what to do when someone doesn't have the relevant raw data e.g. no HRM.
3) to sort out some bugs when data is bad e.g. WAVA>100%, MAX HR = 1000000, etc.
4) to check that the other sports behave themselves when I generate their graphics.
Perhaps sharing my work-in-progress might inspire some more suggestions for content

Imagine accessing all the best features that Fetcheveryone has to offer.
Compete against others on Fetch Miles.
Automatically compare runs on routes you have done before.
Advanced analysis of your HR data.
A training dashboard to show how well you've been training recently.
Set goals and measure your progress.
Analyse your training to find patterns that help you improve.
Plan and find routes quickly and easily.
And much more. So much more.
As a special Fetch VIP member, you get access to all this. Stay comfortable in the knowledge that you will get the best of everything. Our special minimum monthly fee guarantees you are treated differently to everyone else. And what's more, there will NEVER be a price rise. Imagine that. Would you like it?
What does it cost?
ABSOLUTELY F*CKING NOTHING. You already get all of these things. Fetcheveryone doesn't resort to tiered access or price hikes. Everything is free for everyone. I put my trust in the Fetch community, that enough of you understand the importance of not living in a premium world. That there are enough of you who will not be bought. That even if you never give Fetcheveryone a penny in voluntary donations, that enough people will do so to support the site. If you can't spare the cash, you don't have to. You get everything that everyone else gets. I trust that you understand I give you the best I've got. No premium to pay. That's how the internet began, and we should work hard to preserve that in the face of the corporate land grab.
Reading recently about price hikes from other services, I was reminded about this fabulous piece of Bill Bailey (it's a Facebook vid, soz):

Here's my annual infographic from 2022 (you can generate yours here: fetcheveryone.com/training-summary-annualinfographic.php ):
I am working on producing an equivalent monthly version. Style-wise it'll look similar, but in terms of the stats that will appear on it - there's a relatively clean slate.
For reference, the current monthly summary is a bit of a mish-mash of a shareable graphic, and some tables of data underneath. It'd be great to pull all that together into one jazzy graphic that illustrates what Fetch can do (and gets shared a bit more than once a year!)
I'm aiming to get it ready so that you can all start generating your graphics for the end of January - so I've plenty of time to try to get it working well.
Now's the time to say what you'd like to see on it; and I'll do my best to incorporate your ideas into the layout.
What'll it be Fetchies?

I would like to see something about performance against plan. The training plan page is always looking ahead (maybe a clue in the name!) but I would like to see how many of the planned runs I actually did looking backwards. This could be on the info graphics, or possibly keep the past info on the training page, rather than it being lost as soon as the date is past?Dillthedog8:27am, 18th Jan 2023

Only two points from me. I really like it on the whole. I personally would prefer percentage of total distance against HR zones rather than pace. Also, the Ascent graphic has a person on a parachute, something one would use to go down, not up...ptr_runner12:01pm, 18th Jan 2023
A few Fetchies pointed out that the newly amalgamated training/blog notifications under the 'Follow' button did not give *them* the option to decide which of their sports/blog that other people could be notified of.
So I might be interested in your runs, rides and blogs - but you might only want me to have the option of being notified when you swim or walk. Or something.
Anyway.
You now have full control over which of your sports people can be notified of. If you untick something (and remember to press save) then your followers will no longer be notified when you do that thing.

They made me laugh. I wanted to make sure we avoided sounding like a real organisation, and I also wanted it to be short and snappy. So I've gone with 'Fettle' as a working title. According to various definitions, it can mean "in good shape" (in fine fettle), or to knock the rough edges off something. It feels like a decent fit.
I'm almost done at the keyboard for this week, but it'd be great to have some good data to play with when I get back to it on Monday. So I've knocked up a simple page where you can add yourself to the list of horses:
fetcheveryone.com/fettle.php
If you're willing to have people invest their credits in your potential success, or you just think it might be a bit of a laugh, please add yourself. Your best benchmarks from the last 12 months will be shown - and eventually, pundits will be able to choose which of them they think you will beat. I haven't quite figured out the game mechanics - but having some real-life Fetchies in the system will be a good start.
Oh, and I'll make sure there are lots of lovely badges to be earned

Last year I got a call from someone at Barclays - they wanted to do 'Due Diligence' to make sure I wasn't money laundering or owt like that. If you want to read the details, here's my blog from last June: fetcheveryone.com/blog/3/2022/6/451662
Anyway... perhaps the funniest thing to come out of it (aside from the £4 that they questioned me about from my Russian backers) was that they wanted to know how the betting worked. That's this game - the oldest one on Fetch:
fetcheveryone.com/betting.php
They wanted to know how it worked, and if there was real money involved. Six months later, I've finally reattached my ass, after laughing it off
But I did wonder whether the game was due for (a) a name change, if real people can't understand it's just for fun; and (b) some hefty rule changes.
Nearly 20 years ago (yes, really!), the longest-serving members of Fetcheveryone were all racing more, and Personal Best's were a very real prospect. We still have plenty of people who get new PB's, but there's a hefty audience with more of an interest in Season's Bests instead. I don't mean that anyone is hefty. You know what I mean
And there's the racing aspect too. It feels like that's all been turned upside down post-Covid, and even though there's a feeling that it's coming back, there are still plenty of people who just enjoy doing their own thing.
So instead of race times and personal bests, let's use 12 month GPS benchmarks. You don't need to enter a race to get benchmarks, so the pool of horses will be bigger. And by definition your achievements in the last 12 months are within reach of your current capabilities - so no-one should feel left out on those days when you feel over the hill
As a pundit, all you need do is look through the list of people, and pick the ones you think will improve their time at a particular distance. Put your not-real-money where your virtual mouth is, and if they pull it off (the SB, not your mouth), then you earn more not-real-money.
As a horse, you can give insider tips on which benchmarks you hope to beat - in a similar way that you would if playing Trader. I can also offer similar assistance to pundits - like in Trader - little graphs that show how your 5k benchmark has developed over the last 12 months. How long ago did you set your best? How close are you to it now? Etc.
If you reckon this could be good, there's a feature request where you can upvote the overhaul fetcheveryone.com/featurevoting?keyword=276 - I may well do it anyway, but it's good to know how many of you might be interested.
Perhaps I should call the new version Better. Or Betterer. Or something else. Something else would probably be good, especially if search engines are taking a dim view of Fetch because they believe we're engaging in g*mbling. Leave a comment with your suggestion for a name

That's a great idea to look at the last 12 months only. you should see all the people you follow, and next to each, a set of six checkboxes. They give you the ability to fine tune which notifications you receive about that person. So if you want to just be notified about their running, or exclude their walking, or just hear about blogs and swims... configure away!

I promised burp chat.
I realise that this is neither sexy nor desirable nor socially acceptable in polite circles - but I'm currently in the habit of saying 'yikes' when I burp. Feature 1559 from Bowman asks for the ability to be able to filter the notifications you get when you follow a Fetchie. I've been thinking about doing this for a long time.
For example, I follow one Fetchie who does some great runs which I like to look at, but I don't need to be notified of their warm up walks. And similarly, there's another Fetchie who does epic bike rides, but I don't need to know when they've done a gym class or walked the dog.
My plan then is to beef up the follow button, so that when you follow someone, you can untick any activity categories you are interested in.
And it occurred to me that I can collapse another bit of functionality by turning blogs into another tickbox under the follow button. The current functionality for blog following is that you can add any public blogger to your favourites, to be notified when they write a blog. Instead, that'll all happen via the follow button.
The reason my blog is titled as such is that when I sort this out (probably in the next few days), you'll appear as a follower on someone's list, whereas before they would not have known. It makes sense to me to bring it all together, and it makes it more transparent. You can see who you are following, and who is following you here: fetcheveryone.com/people.php
I hope all that makes sense, but I wouldn't blame you if it didn't

I used the don't allow followers options previously (I presume I didn't see the point in allowing people to be notified of my training), how does that work now?SPR
I'm sure there used to be page with buddies training recent training? Presuming that's gone for future changes around all this?4:49pm, 12th Jan 2023 -
I've fmailed all the people who don't allow followers. In short, because blog notifications now come under the follow button, I've just disabled notifications for the folks who don't allow followers.fetcheveryone
The 'buddies' system is the opposite to followers. Making someone a buddy doesn't give you more access to them, it gives them more access to you e.g. buddy-only blogs, or buddy-only views of your training if you've set your sharing up to restrict it. There are potentially a few places where this is applied inconsistently, but you can report them to me via feedback.5:12pm, 12th Jan 2023 -

I'm back (and the Fetch LS, SS and NS shirts preorder is open)
11:24am, 10 Jan 2023
Yesterday was a bit manic, putting out the biggest fires from over the Christmas period. As well as the build up of queries and issues from you folks, there's usually a fair bit of juggling between 24 prize winners and 24 companies from the Festive Fetch Calendar. I still have a hefty bug list to work through, but all the super-urgent stuff is now done.
It was not the world's best Christmas here. If you don't like medical details, skip the next four paragraphs
Things started getting rough for me on December 16th. It was actually a busy day of training for me, with a five mile run after taking the boy to school, and then a lunchtime swim. According to the notes in my training log, both were pretty awful experiences. I'd discovered that I'd had trouble peeing, but felt the need to go all the time (including immediately after going). Being up with the boy, I was nowhere near my GP's surgery, so I had no opportunity to submit a urine sample for testing. On Friday evening I shivered uncontrollably for about 45 minutes before sleeping for another hour. I ended up shelling out £40 on an online GP service, and got some antibiotics. They certainly helped, along with drinking plenty of fluids to flush my system out. I managed to get back to Bedford on Sunday morning, and wasn't much good for anything for the next couple of days.
Meanwhile, what we thought was a cold for Katie turned into a positive Covid test around the 20th December. Like the absolute diamond that she is, she wore a mask around the house, and stayed upstairs for large chunks of the day, in an attempt to keep it from me. But a gentle sore throat on Christmas Eve yielded a positive Covid test for me at 7am on Christmas Day. Both our plans to see our boys over Christmas were thwarted, and we spent much of the next week working through various symptoms including: sore throat, a bit of snottiness, singing head, knackeredness, and random nap urgency! We completed Netflix though. A little guy comes on to the screen at the end and reads a Spike Milligan poem, with fireworks and dancing lions in spangly leotards.
But in the midst of all that, my peeing was still not right. I had one horrible night when I needed to go to the loo four times between 1am and 4am. I got back to the GP surgery when they reopened on January 3rd, and my urine sample suggested some very specific antibiotics which (touch laminate) appear to have sorted me out.
It's all played out in my resting heart rate figure. In the whole of 2022, my average weekly resting HR did not go above 50 at all. Since December 16th, I've had ten days above 55, and a couple of days above 60. But thankfully, I've been back in the 40s for the last three days, and feeling MUCH MUCH better. I might even trot out a couple of miles at lunchtime, now that it's stopped raining here. I have to do another urine test next Tuesday to make sure the infection has gone. But the kick in the teeth is that my boy now has Covid, so my planned visit to see him this week has been postponed. Grrr.
---
Anyway... that's enough about all of that.
A few people asked me before Christmas if I would do a preorder of shirts (particularly the long sleeve ones). I didn't get time in December, but I've put one together now. The last batch of shirts was November 2021, so I figure it's about time - but if you want one this year, now really is the time to get one. January is often a difficult month to get through, so I'm leaving the preorder open until the end of the month for those of you who want to see where you are come pay day. If you definitely want one, but need a little longer to pay - as always just drop me a line, I am happy to put one aside for communicative Fetchies! The manufacturer's prices have gone up a bit, but I've kept the price the same as in 2021 - goodness knows we've all had enough price rises. There's long sleeve, short sleeve and vests, in red or in black, in male or female cut, in all the sizes. But Maureen Lipman was wrong. They *are* all the rage

Glad you are feeling much much better. RHR for is the best indicator of illness. I tend to have a rise of around 7-8 beats and then typically a few days later come down with something. Its like the body is working harder to fight something off, sometimes the body wins and dont get any illness, others it doesnt and out comes the illness a few days later.Daz Love11:39am, 10th Jan 2023

Glad to hear you are both ok now - I came down with what I thought was flu on Christmas eve, really poorly on Christmas day and didn't get out of bed for most of the day. Plans to spend the day at no.2 son's with rest of family were binned. Plans for them to visit me on Boxing day also had to be binned as I tested positive for Covid that morning. Stuck at home feeling sorry for myself for several days, but only three days of feeling really unwell and then on the mend. I am still battling a lot of residual tiredness, which I am assured is normal. Do take it easy - it sounds like you've had a double whammy of Christmas illness! On the bright side, I did catch up with loads of TV I'd recorded and hadn't had time to watch! I did eventually get to have a sort-of Christmas lunch with my son - hope you get to do the same soon.Schnecke9:36am, 11th Jan 2023

Unfortunately, Fitbit have changed their authorisation process, which broke our importing link. I do my best to stay on top of changes made to third-party software - but unfortunately this is something that happens from time to time.
Today I have updated our code to match the latest Fitbit system. To reestablish the connection, you will need to use the following link:

At the tail end of 2022, Joopsy started a thread asking for recommendations for your favourite albums of 2022. It spawned a spin-off thread encouraging folks to listen to 50 new albums in 2023:
fetcheveryone.com/forum/50-new-albums-in-2023-62540
I already had the code for "list and review all your books", so I made some tools that allow anyone to list and review the albums they've listened to:
fetcheveryone.com/albums.php
and it wouldn't be album reviews without an album chart - so here's our rudimentary list amalgamating all the reviews into order:
fetcheveryone.com/albums-all.php
AND it wouldn't be Fetch if there wasn't a badge for joining in - so you can now get a pretty sweet 'And that was...' badge featuring the legendary John Peel if you end up submitting 50 reviews.
The rules, as far as I can fathom them, are simply that you attempt to listen to 50 albums that are new to you, with a vague emphasis on new music in general. They didn't stop making good music the year you last bought an album
Pop into the thread, where there's a bit of chat surrounding the albums of the moment, and start listening
If you're struggling for inspiration, try one of the albums from the top of the chart, and give it a score.
