About Me

|
Been into athletics for about 5 years. Middle distance specialist - primarily 800 metres. Typical weekly mileage will be 40-50 in autumn/winter with more focus on speed and race specific conditioning during summer track season. Cross training includes weight training - mostly compound lifts for total body strength and power during off season with circuit training added in now and then. Plyometrics also play a role, particularly during spring/summer. Typically train 8-9 times a week - 6 or 7 running sessions and 2 cross training sessions.Been held back by numerous setbacks in the past - kidney problems, hamstring pulls, foot/ankle injuries, biomechanical issues etc. But I am a believer that whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger. My resilience was finally rewarded in 2013 when I earnt a place on the UK 800m rankings after an agonising wait. Despite hoping to break the 2 minute barrier in 2014, I had to settle for a SB of 2:01.What will the athletics season of 2015 have in store for me? As Seb Coe said in his autobiography, training is not about running faster, its about running smarter...
