Ally2 My PB, set when I was 14, is definately beatable. Recently ran 38 minute 10km. So will enter. Race report: Watch time of 29:37 so I have smashed my PB and gone sub 30. Ran splits of 5:52, 11:43, 17:32, 23:23 and then 29:37 so all but last mile, which I had a stitch, were sub 6 minute miles. Weather was perfect. overcast and not too muggy, course very flat. Ran my perfect race. Dead pleased. Would certainly run this race again. Came 29th.

Barky Nice course, good marshalling all the way round. But best of all, met a few Fetchies :-)

fetcheveryone Aww shizzle, sorry all you eager betters, I just missed out on landing you some credits. You leave with nothing :-) But hey, aside from that, and obviously my own personal pride at not getting a PB, I am extremely happy with the outcome. I ran on Monday with a bit of a tight chest, then pulled out of a club run on Tuesday because it was getting worse - spent the whole week on the Covonia (probably should have updated my race notes to let betters know). Anyway... I felt like I was improving by Friday, despite a cough like a cement mixer with an ironing board in it. So Sunday came, and I decided to tough it out - the plan being to run the first mile near race pace, and then either fall back and accompany my race-virgin-friend Tiny, or plough on to glory. The first mile felt decent enough, so I carried on, basically running at my best pace throughout, helped by the fact that I recognised over 50% of the marshalls, and they all had a decent shout for me. Quite a bit of coughing, which must have alarmed the St Johns, and any runners I was near, but I picked people off slowly, choosing my targets and trying to claw down the gaps. Splits were 7:46, 7:36, 7:41, 7:54, and 7:41. I'm blaming the slightly slower mile 4 on the lack of chavs in the town centre - I was hoping their general lack of quality would spur me on. Got to mile 5 and I knew I had to get something like 7:30 to PB, so I tried throwing everything in - but I was a bit stitchy under the ribs, and it felt like I was grinding to a halt. I was on the far side of the park, with about 3 minutes spare running to do, and thought there was no way I'd make it, but pushed on. Got past the final turn, (past Snoozi and Heidi, both watching Barky go past) and sprinted like hell, but to no avail. Seven seconds outside by the official results. The best news though, is that I got through it, and know that I can definitely do better once I get back to fitness. I've said all my

hellen was hoping to be a bit quicker as the pace I did for this was slower than my 10km pace! havnt done anything fast for ages due to marathon training and it was only 2 weeks after Edinburgh marathon so couldnt expect any better for this.

Super Kev Felt horrible, altough I enjoyed the race in a strange kind of way. I would do it again but I expected a better time.
