bedlam_g No PB but only a few seconds outside and pleased with my performance as I was running with a mild throat/chest infection. The first few kilometres were into a pretty strong wind and by the time we had the wind behind us my lungs had started to make some rather unsettling noises which put me off more than anything else. Lovely cakes afterwards which I made the most of after yesterday’s pre race abstinence. Fetchies out in force and well done to old mum getting a PB on a tough day.

connelld Haven't ran slower that 40min in a while. Was recovering from cold but didn't notice it too much during race. Ran behind Les and Bobby which are similar level which would suggest the wind was affecting us all.

daviec What a great race. The wind was blowing hard, but I just tried to stick to my planned pace. My lace came out after 1k and I decided just to keep going rather than tie it. Luckily my shoe stayed put for the distance. The first half of the race into the headwind was tough going. I had planned to try and tuck in behind someone but the pack I was in was slowly moving back from the one in front, so I made a break to move to the next one and found myself breaking the wind for a few others who came with me. That move helped me settle into a nice fast pace which I held until we started to come back. The wind behind me on the way back along the prom was a mental boost as well as helping my tired legs and I was well inside my PB pace already. Started to claw back some more time on the last few k and finished 33rd (Cat 16th) with a new PB of 38.31. The whole event was very well organised and Ayrodynamic deserve a big pat on the back for pulling in a large field and providing cakes, sandwiches, tea, coffee and a top class finishers t-shirt.

gilly b Horrible 1st 3k into the wind. Larrry and crew kept me going last 2k. Disappointing time - slower than last year.

ian9657 2nd race in the town of my birth, good flat course, could I get a new PB ? UPDATE...Came down with the flu overnight ! Woke up at 1.30am in a soaken bed, changed bedclothes and took some paracetamol, same at 5.30am and 9.30am but had arranged to give someone a lift so decided to give it a shot. First 2k were hard with running into gale force winds so decided to tuck myself in behind a fella bella and had a steady run, pushed it in a bit on the way back but what had happened to my tail wind ?! Didn't do too bad all things considered, beat Clairevmv. Sorry to the 300 Fetches that betted on me.

IanS Tempted to try this one but may depend on the weather and how much food/drink has been consumed the day before...Update: Very windy, first 3k directly into near gale force wind so this was pretty hard going. Set off too fast and paid for it in the last few km but pretty happy overall with a new PB in those conditions

JulesR Pacing chums for a sub-40. **Update** Tried to get friend through 3k in a good state but he wasn't up for it and we watched Bedlam's and several other groups disappear into the distance. Ran a very comfortable race and probably left about 4 mins on the course, most on the seafront going out. Nice to see lots of Fetchies about.

Sunbed Athlete Was 2nd.Best placing for this event after my 3rd place 2 yrs ago.Same lad that won Kirkcudbright Half Marathon was up visiting family & won so was beaten by a very good athlete.Ran good myself considering the very very windy conditions.A very well organised & marshalled race.Guy on lead bike was struugling to keep ahead of us & then his gears packed in just after the 6k mark.Luckily we knew way home.

Ticketyboo Weighed down with Christmas pudding I found myself doing too much of the work into a very strong wind over the first few km's only to be overtook by runners who sat in behind in the 2nd half. Caught up with Guiseppe around 8km who seemed to be coasting. One look at the club vest (rival club) seemed to give him a 2nd wind and he was off like a rocket. Ran negative splits out in 19:36 and wind assisted back in 18:43.
