Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Thats true Bob - when we were kids we were off in the woods for hours on end or cycling around the reservoir or something and only came home when we were hungry. Parents feel they can't allow their children to wonder too far alone these days and its such a shame.
There was a report about it not long ago in the news that said parents should be encouraging children over 8 to go out alone and be independent because altho parents worry more these days about abduction, the figures are actually no higher than they were in the 70's.

Me too, well, actually, no, not any longer! :-( I used to be the same weight I was as a 16 year old, until this year, when I have started to drop weight slowly but securely...

20 years ago i was 11, about 5ft 2 and i weighed about 8stone. Im now 31, 5ft 7 and 10st 7 (sometimes ;-)) I'm not 'fatter' now, just heavier. I wasn't fat as a child but i was certainly faster to mature in the lady areas than alot of my friends, which i think is sometimes mistaken as being 'fat'. I developed hips boobs and a bum, alot of girl stayed athletic shaped.

Child abductions are very rare, but always hit the headlines for weeks when they happen. for sure, wrapping them in cotton wool and allowing them to stay inside all the time does more harm than letting them go out and do stuff.
Mind you, there are kids out late at night in our town and the parents probably don't have a clue what they're up to or where they are.
My sister got her weight down to around 5 stone when she was 17 and was in and out of hospital where they'd feed her up and then release her to starve again. She's still not "normal" with food even now.

I did get taller when I started practising yoga in my early 20s, but I put that down to improved posture and a stretched out spine :-)
