We had a free month with the Kennel Club Insurance, but changed to Direct Line because of price. They paid the vets directly when Jet had surgery.

The local vet recommends petplan but they seem quite pricey in comparison to others.

We thought Petplan on the expensive side, and changed to Direct Line. I don't know if it's because we made a claim whefn Floss ate all that dried fruit, but it seems very expensive with them too now.
However, since she does seem to have an issue of some sort with her left hind leg - regularly limpy after resting post-walk - I suspect eventually we will want to have it investigated beyond the vet just palpating it and finding nothing untoward. In that case the premiums will probably have been worth it.

Can I indulge in a Proud Mum Moment? We met up with my friend and her 2 dogs this afternoon at Woodhenge. The dogs were having a good run around in a field of long grass when we suddenly realised we couldn't see them anymore (they're all small dogs). Cue much name calling...and out of the grass appeared Charlie's smiley face, little ears bouncing up and down as he ran back to us He's pretty rubbish at recall so I was really chuffed that he decided to show me that he *can* do it when we'd got company! The mini schnauzer was close behind, the cocker spaniel took a little while longer to show.

Another 'spaniel' moment today - or maybe it's an 'owner' moment.
I put Jet in the bath this afternoon to remove the seeds etc that were clinging to his legs and paws. He drank the water (as he always does), then a few minutes later threw up on the carpet, half an hour after that he suddenly squeaked, peed on the floor (he hasn't done that for years) and as soon as I let him outside he was pooing for Britain.
Hmmm. When I checked back in the cupboard I *think* I must have squeezed baby shampoo instead of puppy shampoo into the water.

Is he OK now Helegant? Hopefully it'll be out of his system quickly.

I presume so. He seemed OK at the time, and he's gone off with Mr to our home this afternoon, all waggy tailed and enthustic as always. He normally bounces back despite his various misadventures.

HP - there's a local dog community on Facebook and people have been discussing insurance on there. The majority were with Petplan. They recognised it was quite expensive but said Petplan had paid on claims with no quibbling and v quickly.

Oh, I mean to say... one of the fields that Jet was running round has been mown in the last week, so he had a vast open space to run across and jump and be generally spanielly. He was some way from me when I realised that the buzzard that was circling above him was getting lower, and following Jet's path. It came in quite low and had a good look at him then flew into a nearby tree.
