Another thread cockapoo! I'm not sure if I've attached the photo properly, if not it's in the gallery. holly is coming up to 10 months old and is showing done signs of becoming a tad less bonkers. Still chewing everything and eating rubbish off the street though. :-)

I'm very excited about your puppy HP as I saw your FB video. Ernie's the same breed and colour as Pickle who I look after and have seen mature into a fantastic dog. I'm trying to move at the moment to a flat with a garden (can't afford a house). Have seen a fab place which is over my budget but might put in a lower offer.

I'll be getting a rescue pointer/pointer cross ... or 2 once I've settled and have the support network in place.

We'll pick him up 2nd July :) Exciting!!

I have just started looking at pet insurance and am bamboozled by the options. Accident only, time limited, per condition, lifetime......I don't bloody know. I guess with a pup you assume there is less chance of a long term condition but...what if???

Not really HP. Pups are an unknown quantity as they start to grow. Whereas with adults/adult rescues you have a good idea of condition and any ailments if they're mature dogs.

macapple- holly has similar markings to our Ernie. You can't see in the pic but he is black with a wee white chin and white on his chest.

RS - for the sake of an extra £ or 2 it seems sensible to get the best cover. You just never know. The vet have a pet plan where you pay every month and it includes regular treatments like worming etc and 10% of other treatments.

I struggled with insurance especially as they have so many rxclusions etc. and was just going to save monthly until I saw the amount of crud my dog eats!!!! So figuring that we will end up at the vets I took out insurance with PDSA. Lifetime cover, £13 a month and 10% of the vet bill and a percentage of your money goes to the charity.

We do that plan with the vets too. Helps spread the cost of all the necessary stuff.

i was told to ask the vets for any that they recommend or would say "avoid!" there was one that they said avoid but im with Tesco and they said theyre fine - guess the vets know who pay out no quibble and who dont

macapple hes gorgeous! my woody is 13 months now he used to eat crap off the street all the time to the point i wanted to muzzle him- hes not as bad as he was though - being in town centres is worse disguarded chips- chewing gum, southern fried chicken legs by the senior school etc !! one time somehow he picked up a foot long liqueirce strawberry lace thing without me noticing !!!

my dog came with month insurance with pet plan- then they offered me a free month and in that time i got quotes and switched to tesco £18 a month

Wanda came with a month free from Petplan too and every time we renew with them Battersea gets a donation. I had been with Petplan with a previous pet and although I might have spent more time shopping around if she hadn't had the free month I knew from previous experience they weren't the worst so stayed with them
