She's very greedy Red Ant. Fortunately she's very active too or she'd be a Fat Lass!

That's an interesting link Red Ant. I thought I was feeding Charlie a good quality dry kibble (Royal Canin) but it only scores 2.6 out of 5 :-(

Coming back to smaller dogs who get wet tummies... I use doggy wet-wipes from the pound shop. We don't bath Jet *that* often, but a hose down or a wet-wipe will rectify most issues, and can be quite helpful when the dirt is only on the 'outside' of his fur.

Funnily enough, I've just bought some doggy wet wipes that were on offer in Morrisons this week! They smell really nice (aloe vera) and are thicker than normal wet wipes. They did a good job of removing the muck but I did struggle to keep them away from his teeth. New game!

The site RedAnt linked to is very useful - it's what I used to help me decide on how to feed Jess. It used to be completely independent - hope it still is!

That was the site that I saw on this thread some time ago, when we got Wanda. Just looking at what we feed her - it is a 'budget' option, but as far as that end of the market goes it is not the worst by a long way.

Chudleys working crunch for Ralph, which is only 2.9/5 but they don't seem to like anything with grain in much, it is supplemented by chicken wing tips, random scrappy bits of raw beef, tinned sardines sometimes and his favourite - pour some of the juices from a cooked chicken over his food.

(I'm glossing over the raw rabbit, pigeon and certainly not admitting to the odd partridge)
He has a fondness for ice cream that probably isn't good for him, snaffles anything dropped on the floor and steals carrots from the garden. He wouldn't eat bread if you gave it to him, but steals it from the ducks and under peoples bird tables given the chance. Most annoyingly he has a thing about courgette plants and has stripped the leaves completely from a young plant AGAIN this year.
I've posted pictures of what he does in standing sweetcorn fields - but this year he's nicking the young plants as they emerge from their plastic lines, hope the farmer doesn't catch him.
He also doesn't have "an ounce" of fat on him and if he's not exercised much for any reason doesn't eat as much. Wish I was like that!

I just remembered about this thread. Bringing home our first puppy in a couple of weeks. I think we're going to need the benefit of your wisdom.
