Rory is actually better the bigger the road is, Carp (he’s not terrible but he’s always on alert on short journeys whereas he’ll lie down if it’s a motorway). I don’t know if it’s because it’s smoother/ straighter/ less to see out of the window?

Bella is also better on a motorway because she'll actually settle, as soon as it gets twisty she wants to see.

Flossie is the same - much more relaxed on a motorway. She makes us smile when we come home from Devon. Having not seen her in the rear view mirror all the way up the M5, or when we come off at our junction, she only sits up when we're about a mile away from home. Does she smell the air? When she's lying down she can't see what's around her.

Cairo didn’t travel well until we got him a smaller dog box now generally he just sleeps, though that is what whippets do ! It seems the smaller area made him feel more secure.

Poppy is settled, but nosey! She travels in the boot with a dog-grill. We've travelled all over with her from being a pup so she knows that the car is generally a good thing.

Likewise I think Ernie assumes we’re going for a walk locally until we get to a certain point. Once on dual carriageway he settles but when we come off he assumes we’re ‘there’ and gets excited. He knows the turn off at Aviemore and gets extra excited.

That's a fabulous photo

Poor Marvin is already suffering with the hotter weather. He seems to be constantly panting even inside 😔
