Charlie usually has Droncit hidden in cream cheese but the vet switched it for Drontal last time. It looks like a small bone shaped treat and must taste ok because he hoovered it up without hesitation!

We are so fortunate that - and this may not come as a surprise to many on this thread - Wanda will eat anything! Although I do usually try to 'hide' tablets in something, when she was really poorly at Easter and on so many meds at all different times of the day sometimes I would just offer the tablet in my hand and she'd eat it. Maybe some liver pate or squeezy cheese that if hidden in a blob of it Biscuit wouldn't notice? |

Biscuit is a master at slurping all the pate/melted cheese/dog food off the bits of Drontal and spitting the bits out.

Our first Lab would suck all the butter/cream cheese/pate off tablets then go into another room and spit out the pill. In the end we used to have to hold her mouth shut until she'd swallowed it (and copious amounts of butter!)

Missed all this chat. Ernie has had a few chocolate encounters. Worst was an entire chocolate orange with popping candy. He’s generally been ok after these incidents.

Dio - love the photo. We used to refer to Ernie as tigger due to similar bounciness.

For the last few weeks I've been feeling really guilty about the fact that Jet hadn't had his claws clipped, and I've been worrying that he might be finding it uncomfortable to walk. I could hear his claws clicking on the hard floor at home. His usual groomer has been unavailable. Today we popped into Pets at Home, only to be told that his claws are fine, are getting worn down nicely on pavements when he walks, and there was not a lot of nail to trim. The groomer shortened his front claws by a minimal amount and charged half price. She said there was nothing to trim from the back paws. I had to stay in the room with him as he tried to wrap himself around my neck and under my armpit because, y'know, it's *such* a traumatic experience. "Spaniels can be a bit sensitive about people touching their feet" said the young woman. Indeed. I'm still sneezing from all the fur he shed in his fearful state. Ye, I have clippers at home. No, I can't get near his feet with them. One look at them and he goes away to hide. Same with the toothbrush. |

I had all sorts of good intentions about clippers and toothbrushes when Jess was a puppy Helegant. Needless to say she will tolerate neither. Also we 'almost' got her in the bath ONCE. That's it. These days we rely on rain to give her coat a good clean. We do brush and comb a lot - but not as often as we should according to the grey and fawn sheen all our carpets sport. GSDs are terrible shedders! She just has SO MUCH fur! |
