Oh KO, LazDa!
One of the really impressive things about pups is how well they cope as tripods, so if it gets as bad as having to lose the leg, Polly could still have a very full and active life. I think often the humans feel worse about such things in the long run. Of course course, in the short term, with no way of explaining what's going on, it's probably more distressing for them.
If it's a congenital weakness issue, that could be trickier. Poor Polly.

Good to hear Rae's news but sorry to hear about Polly LD.
Here - completely normal behaviour has resumed sadly - it would seem still having a very bald head is no deterrent to rooting around under bushes to flush out fledglings with the inevitable consequences  Having said that about 4/5 of our garden is fenced and gated and ideal for nesting birds with only the remaining 1/5 accessible to Wanda... if the birds choose to encourage their young to spend their first few days on the floor right outside the back door I really don't know how to help them!
