Flossie sends commiserations to Charlie. Looks like a GA for her in the next few days to have her teeth and gums examined thoroughly. The vet could see no obvious inflammation so wonders if she's cracked a tooth.

10 minutes, an anti-inflammatory jab = £85 thankyouverymuch.

The GA etc will be 'from' £319 (after a 10% discount because we're members of their Pet Health Club - which we pay for) and it's highly unlikely our insurance will cover it because 'it's teeth - they'd only consider it if there's been trauma like being hit by a car'.

One bright spot: the vet commented on how good Floss was at having her mouth examined. I said that as part of the KC Good Citizen stuff years ago we'd had to demonstrate our dogs would allow us to examine their teeth. 'Well you did a very good job then' she said :-)

So glad that the Good Citizen skills came in useful. Wishing Charlie and Floss well with their procedures. BaronBR asked me how soon we could expect to hear Wanda's results and possible next steps and I'm afraid the cynic in me said (with apologies to Fetchie vets) that as treatment was likely to be costly and the insurance are already on board I thought it would probably be fairly soon!

We took those exams with Jet too but I think his teeth would be used in fear on any stranger that tried that nowadays (he will let me, but no-one else). He's become a real Victor Meldrew in his older years. Unless the sun is shining and I'm willing to let him sleep on my lap. :-)

I need to spend more time in here, I keep hanging out on the Cats in Boxes thread and I don't even have a cat!!

Not much to say about my little horror at the moment, but lots of gentle hugs for the dogs and owners that need them.

Hope Charlie is OK Alice the Camel

Flossie has saved herself a brush with the operating table. On Wednesday evening she asked for and ate, albeit slowly, her evening Dentastix. On Thursday she started to eat her breakfast with much more gusto and by yesterday evening she wolfed down her dinner completely as normal, as she did her evening chew. Whatever was ailing her mouth at the start of the week has clearly settled. For now, anyway. Phew!

Good to hear that Flossie has bounced back, LazyDaisy.

Charlie will be going in for the day next Thursday. I’m already dreading having to refuse him his breakfast - I’m expecting great protestations!

He'll beat you up if you don't give him his food, Alice the Camel, and bark the neighbourhood awake 😂

Wanda is going in for her big op on Wednesday. Likewise no breakfast for her which she will not be happy about.

The biopsy report is more positive than we had expected although the operation is going to be a big one and not particularly easy given the position of the lump on Wanda's head. I'm extremely grateful to Fetchie Blotts Mate (who's a vet as well as one of the volunteers at the RDA group I'm involved with) who's been very supportive and given lots of helpful advice. I'll try and blog about where we are some time over the weekend.
