Thanks :-)
Yes it can be hard to hold the faith, especially when he darts at me in play mode, growling and barking and biting my legs and I can’t get away from him or catch him so it descends into a game for him as I try to get away and onto the other side of a door! There is usually an undignified amount of swearing. And I bear many scars :-O

He charmed everyone at the garden centre/pet store this afternoon - he loves meeting people! He can be a right cutie!

And as a big positive I can get out for short runs when he’s snoozing in the crate :-)

It's great that he is confident with new people - that's a genuine bonus. Let him see (not chase obvs!) people on bikes, children playing/running about, pushchairs, peple with trolleys - absolutely anything - it's amazing what the y register.

Jess was probably a year old when she first saw a man with a child on his shoulders ... not one I'd thought of - but she was slightly alarmed by this two headed creature!

Jess has many 'faults' (all down to us I'm sure!) but she is bulletproof with any sort of traffic: fast, slow, dustcarts, huge thundering lorries, motorbikes - whatever. Walking her up and down busy roads on a short lead as well as much more pleasant off lead countryside and seaside was well worth doing.

They are bloody hard work as puppies. I was lucky QP was around when Ernie was wee. We were able to either stick a toy in Ernie’s mouth or stand up, turn our back to him and stand completely still.

Definitely agree with sharkie - people with walking sticks or umbrellas, face masks on, other animals - ducks, horses, sheep, etc etc. The more experiences in these first few weeks, the better.

The animals are more tricky. In the summer there are cows on the moor but not in the winter. I’ll take him past pets corner (he can’t go in) - there are goats and peacocks.

He’s already seen a fair range of people (but always room for many more!) and I’m planning on getting him to as many places as possible in the next week - he’s already 13 weeks. He’s seen wheelchairs, sticks and walking frames, bicycles, runners and pushchairs. He seems totally fine with face masks. We live right by a hospital and right by a park so a good variety of people. I may walk him through the hospital grounds (there’s a fruit and veg stall just outside the hospital entrance so can buy some supplies and I get 10% discount as nhs staff).

I’m planning to take him to the beach as well as various parks and to try to let him meet more dogs. We need to go and meet some fetchies too (scribbler lives near the beach and we’re hoping to meet susiesueharp on Saturday :-) )
Actually Roberto isn’t too far either!

It sounds as though you’re doing fine!
You’ve reminded me that one thing that really spooked puppy Charlie was black bin bags that had been left outside somebody’s house (I think it was the rustling noise as much as anything!), also a man with a wheelbarrow.

Agree that Pen is doing great!

You're up in Newcastle then, Pen? I'm sorry it has been SO hard for you! I knew dogs beforehand but not puppies and no squawking, never sleeping, both ends leaking babies here either! dog

Albie got totally spooked by a garden chair that I had moved 🙄 And also by a bag that had blown onto the lawn (one he’d actually been chewing earlier!!). The windy weather spooked him a bit.

He’s a hardy northern whippet though - he sat next to me on the wet cold patio hoping for a treat when really I wanted him to do a wee 😂
