The other option is to get a second hand one in the size you need...

They grow too quick for that as pups. You need it small enough that they won't do their business but within a week, that small enough is too small

(I'm no expert, we got our "puppy" at 19 weeks, and she's a decent size!)

You chose a good age in that respect. It's ridiculous how fast they grow from 8 weeks to 16 weeks. I have always kept a log of Luna's weight. She went from 1.3kg to 9kg in the first 4 months. She's only 12.5kg now at 15 months. It amazes me to think what tiny space she had in her crate compared to what she uses now, and she's still tiny really. |

Skye is about 11.something kg. I'm thinking she's nearly full size. We got so lucky with her. Pretty much toilet trained & sleeps through the night...needs a L9T of training work though. She's a willful character!!

She's gonna be a big girl according to this chart: en.belpatt.fr It's about the size Meg was when she was that age (border collie too) and she ended up at 27kg at one point. 20-22kg was her ideal weight. |

We got a small crate from a friend (who has westies) when arlo was a pup. But we have since bought a bigger one. He only goes in it at night for sleep, and while he accepts that and doesnt cry/bark, he takes a lot of persuasion to go in and doesnt want to. He has never taken himself into out of choice and he has been in it since the day we got him. We only use it as we can't trust him yet as he is still chewing a lot, ideally he would just have a bed in the kitchen. |

Thanks for replies, sounds like looking for one with a divider is the way to go. When I had Lex I think crates were pretty new and tbh I wasn't sure I got them til I read about the den factor in them. I do not want to jinx anything but I might be needing one soon if puppy viewing on Sunday goes well I def think crate training will be the way to go.
