Nope HP - going to find out in July. I'm taking the hard crate though - since he's used to it and I figured I could use it as an extra table.

Outdoor tether I was wondering about, since Ralph can pull the corkscrew one straight out - but a friend told me she tethers her GSD to the tow point on her car, so I may try that.

It's a relatively warm day and I have a rather smelly dog.... I'm wondering if I risk bathing her..... not sure that it is something I will be able to manage on my own though so it might have to wait until the weekend......

We are doing a weekend camping taster to prepare for a week in July. I've no idea how it will go. Hopefully if he takes to the fabric crate we can use that for other trips. The metal crate is a pest.

Is the fabric crate quiet HP? I once had Stella with me when staying in a Travelodge, and brought her beanbag bed rather than the plastic basket. I'd no idea how much a dog could move during the night, of how loud a rustling noise she could elicit from her bedding!

It has yet to arrive Fergus so no idea. I hope it arrives in time for him to get used to it...

We once made the mistake of tethering our large and unpredictably reactive rescued greyhound to a camping chair at the back of our family tent while we were having dinner. Unfortunately the occupant of the chair stood up at the same time as somebody walked their small dog a little close to the entrance. The greyhound just about made it under the table, and a few yards beyond, before the lead ran out of slack. It turns out that an empty camping chair makes quite an effective grappling hook, and that towing several other chairs, a table and other assorted camping paraphernalia makes surprisingly little difference to the acceleration and top speed of a determined greyhound. Still, the labrador was happy. By the time we had retrieved our stuff and pacified the child walking the other dog he had polished off most of dinner.
