I've been walking a 2-year old JRT recently. He really is a fantastic little chap. It was our last walk together yesterday evening due to my new work patterns. He's very good with young dogs so had a big chase around with a cocker pup which the owners were v pleased about. There was also a large young lab and it was hilarious to see the JRT chasing him around when the JRT is actually on the small side, even though he has gigantic and very expressive ears. I do find most dogs a joy to walk, but I have to say the JRT has the most amazing joie de vivre, is very transparent and exemplary recall. I'm still smiling thinking about last night's walkies.

I just used to put Leah on her lead, move as far away as I could, hang on tight and ignore them all Baroness. Other dog owners are generally clueless and have no sense at all. If at all possible I would walk in the opposite direction.

Yes we were well away from them but about to go into a narrower path so it made sense just to move towards the middle of the adjoining field and wait for them to pass....and out of politeness to avoid 'incident' please don't let your dogs say hello to mine.... Next time I'm minded to say - 'My dog would happily eat both of those without pausing for breath.... If you'd prefer that not to happen I suggest you don't let them get too close.' It's not true of course but might focus the mind more.....

Or you could say loudly, "Oooooh! Look! A Scooby snack!" People won't quite be sure you are joking.....(I've done it once or twice with Jess 😃)

I have also shouted 'Look, Leah, supper!' The few people who pay attention did move a bit further away.

GM that's brilliant I will definitely try that - perhaps not tomorrow when Wanda and I are marshalling at parkrun... but as soon as possible after that

You might help a few people towards PBs at parkrun if you did, BBL 😃
