That sounds very familiar Sharkie. My Labrador (Stella) brings you whatever she finds, but the Whippet (Cleo) prances around just out of reach gloating and showboating with her prize.

I've finally managed to get onto the local beginners dog training lessons for Dexter... I'm secretly dreading it as I will be bollocked for being a rubbish dog owner
As for recall... Dexter does come back but only when he's ready!!
I'm so impressed with how everyone is getting on with their dogs

I wouldn't worry RA- you and Dexter are both their to learn along with all the others. I doubt many trainers would survive in business for too long if they dished out bollockings rather than encouragement and advice, and the very fact you've signed up already marks you out as not being a "rubbish owner"!

Thanks for that FergusG. Dexter's 4.5 years old so I'm not sure how good he will be. I think his original owner might have taken him to Puppy Training Classes but I'm not sure.
Let's hope old dogs can learn new tricks

We had an older dog (he might have been 7 or 8) who came to the first class I used to take Wanda to and he managed to learn enough to pass his KCGC Bronze. Admittedly nobody was more surprised than his owner and she decided to quit while she was ahead..... I'm sure Dexter will be fine and will learn lots

Michelle and Lisa (Flossie's trainers) were adamant that no dog was ever too old to learn, it just might take a bit longer the older the dog was. I'm sure you and Dexter will get on well there RA.

Charlie was castrated last Thursday (ouch!). He recovered very quickly, back to his usual bouncy self by the next day. The vet told me to keep him calm for the next week, no long walks, no running off lead, no jumping or stretching - IMPOSSIBLE!!!! He ate his cone in the first 24hours, having worked out very quickly that if he walked into a door frame/table leg or suchlike hard enough it would unclip. He now has one of those Comfy Collars - looks like those neck pillows people take on planes. He can still reach to lick his wound but it's just enough of a distraction to stop him being constantly at it.
Oh, and he's gone back to peeing like a girl....

Poor little chap.....I'm sure he'll be back to lifting his leg once it's all healed. Glad to hear that it doesn't appear to be troubling him too much though!!
