My "big" cycle ride yesterday clawed me back precisely one square against Sigh and his HM. So ... I was an 11 o' clock bandit again, and another bike ride secured me the win. Being back on the bike (and using it seven days from seven) is definitely what made the difference this last week.
(I could claim that I was not being underhand, or devious, just ... tactical, but really, there is a Scots word for what I do: sleekit.)

The rankings in this game are worked out based on some ranking system that they use in chess - I wonder if that's why we all start on 1000 points. Don't ask me to explain it - I tried to read it all through once and was none the wiser.

VJ: that's right. It's the ELO system and although it can work with any number*, the world chess ratings system does indeed use 1000 as a basis I believe and so it's probably come from that.
(* -> The British chess rating system also uses ELO but has a different base so the scores are much lower)

looks like Macca also did the Centurion last week; so, fingers crossed, this will be a 'recovery' week for them...
