I've had 3 dates (nothing happened!!) with someone but no spark so I've ended it. Guy who I saw briefly last year is now a Facebook friend and we've exchanged a couple of messenger messages but not sure if there's anything there or he's just being friendly. So I'm decidedly on the shelf...

I’d say you get out what you put in, with regard to dating sites, but be prepared to have a thick skin and a sense of humour and not expect too much! Paid sites can have a better quality but if you’re just dipping your toe maybe start with a free one like POF. See what you like on other people’s profiles and what you don’t. Avoid generic ‘I like most things, just ask if you want to know more’. Add a selection of photos and don’t be afraid to be specific, you don’t need to appeal to everybody. Try and write something different or unique-this bit is hard! And be prepared to spend time viewing and liking. The more you surf the more your profile gets seen. Decide any strong likes/dislikes and sift accordingly. I think a lot of women tend to wait to be messaged (I’ve actually had more success from the ones I’ve messaged first, probably because I’m quite picky), many won’t reply, but you’ll get a better rate from intelligent messages that show you’ve read their profile, rather than ‘hi how are you?’ Just my opinion, I’ve used Match (and found a long term bf) and POF. Running out of patients with POF now, but if I go back to sites I’ll try Match again. (You can register and look for free. Then wait for them to email you with a money-off offer!)

Went up to another local pub where his friends band were playing (not The Rolling Stones SCP, but same demographic!) Few pints and all the good chat... I had sorted out my lodgings with TQ, so he walked me home to there. Wee hug, peck on the lips and said goodnight Then once I grabbed my overnight bag out my car, I got a little bold and brave (aka drunk) and I called him back for an extended snog. Still no idea if I can do this whatever it is, but it was nice to get a wee snog!
