Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Born To Run by Chris McDougall and Eat & Run By Scott Jurek are two easy to read running books that I have enjoyed reading. I am not into reading technical running books with in depth training plans.

I enjoyed Born To Run like so many others here. Also liked Ultramarathon Man by Dean Karnazes - a nice read. I recently got a more technical book that is from the biological angle, Anatomy for Runners: Unlocking Your Athletic Potential for Health, Speed by Jay Dichary which I have dipped in and out of and gets to the nitty gritty of the relationship between running and our bodies etc.

Thinking of getting a copy of either Daniels or the Glovers book. Looks like latest edition of Glover is from 1999 is that right? Any magic website for checking editions etc?

For someone concentrating on 5-10km which of the two might be more appropriate to those distances (as opposed to being Marathon heavy?).

Amazon is probably as good as any to check editions. Glover wrote two that I'm aware of. A more general Runners Handbook and a 'Competitive Runner' Handbook. Lot of cross-over in content though. Daniels is more technical-speak, but there is a lot of good general advice in both. Either perfectly good for 5-10k distances.

Have you seen the new Pfitzinger (and Latter) book -came out this year - Faster Road Racing. Similar format to the well-known P&D marathon book but this time focussed on 5k up to Half. Again, technical read with solid plans.
