Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Advertising is wasted on me, I rarely pay enough attention to know what they are about.

It grinds my gears being forced to watch an ad that I have no interest in... why does that even benefit the advertiser? If I'm not interested, then I won't buy it, therefore let me skip it.

[ I know some people complain about the BBC licence fee, but I cannot stand Commercial radio, with the same adverts on repeat every 20minutes.

If anyone has ever watched TV in America, it feels like it's 10minutes of TV wrapped around frequent adverts. Awful. ]

I don't mind the licence fee, or the BBC being publically funded... however, the rules around the licence need to be updated ASAP. They do not work around modern ways of consuming media. There's ambiguity around what needs a licence for and what does not... even the authority cannot answer clearly what constitutes "TV" when it comes to streaming live events on NetFlix and YouTube, for example.

Having paid the licence fee, I get annoyed with BBC adverts for BBC or iPlayer.

[Always amuses me when online advertising decides I'd like to see "sexy ladies in their 40s in my area" - firstly there's no way the models are that age, secondly... well. Know your audience ;) ]
