Mine does that too. That 'final' 1 minute can take as many as 5!

i've never understood this. if the machine has stopped, and knows it has stopped enough to start the 30s countdown, why can't the door just open?

I like to race my washing machine against my dishwasher. The dishwasher never lies about the time while the washing machine changes the time remaining wildly as it goes.
