Having new lenses put in then would cost more than the glass did new, as they were supposed to be sunglasses bit three optician forgot to tick the box for coloured lenses when she ordered them.

After a couple of restarts, checking of all cables and connections, a process of elimination identified the problem as a faulty lightning port. Fortunately the laptop has two of these, so I am able to work (finally).
