Crouch End is unsullied by Underground Lines, so I used to have to get a bus to get anywhere. Usually to Finsbury Park. To be fair, buses were every 5-7 minutes from my front garden, so I probably wouldn't have thought of walking as an option. In those days, there were bus zones and I think Crouch End was in 3, so I could have saved myself a small wedge every month. Although to be fair, I did cycle to University and back when the weather permitted, and when the money ran out, thus often avoiding putting any money in Mr Livingstone's coffers.
