Buloke (an Australian tree) is the hardest wood (about four times harder than teak, or English oak). It's listed as an ingredient in some Christmas baking my daughter thought she'd try. It translates into English as various things I've also never seen before, such as Arak or Arrack. It is some sort of alcoholic drink which oddly enough, doesn't feature in my daughter's house. She's going to use vanilla instead.

simbil Dec 2017 1:26pm, 3 Dec 2017 7,627 posts	0 simbil I wondered if Arak is the same as Turkish Raki and it seems it is part of a family of Grappa like drinks flavoured with anise en.wikipedia.org Never had hangovers as fierce as a night where Raki was involved but imagine it adds more interesting flavour than Brandy does to a Christmas cake.
