I did a charity solo jump (static line) many years ago. I don't think tandem jumps were a thing then. As tandem jumps have become more popular it makes sense if that's one reason why injuries have reduced over the years.

I did consider parachuting when I was a whippersnapper. Tandem jumping not a thing then either. I thought better of it and I’m content with my decision. Pass me another mince pie

The world's first bungee jump which took place on 1 April, 1979, and was undertaken by members of the Oxford University Dangerous Sports Club from the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol.

(Actually I did know this as I was a teenager in the city at the time. However I have never considered bungee jumping on the principle that I would likely S myself on the way down - and nobody needs that while bouncing upside down)

[I would never bungee jump on account of already having dodgy retinas, and reading of people who have bleeds in their eyes from the deceleration, or something.]

A Rae in a manger
I completely embarrassed myself at a pub quiz as a student by confidently asserting that the first bungee jump couldn't possibly have been from the suspension bridge, because I remembered learning at school (in Bristol) that you're not allowed to bungee jump there.

My team were quite annoyed when the correct answers were revealed 😖

I guess the rule was introduced later...

I did gain some brownie points (and two actual quiz points, it was one for getting the right decade and two for getting it exactly) back for getting the year that Tolkien died correct, though, even if calling my dad to ask might technically have been cheating.

That band name WHAM comes from the name of the theatre department Wigs, Hair And Make-up.

Also, super trouper comes from the brand name of a spotlight used in theatres.

Drambuie appears to be as effective as Benylin for stopping a cough.

[As no over the counter cough remedy has any proven effectiveness for stopping coughs Drambuie couldn't do any worse. Besides, it tastes better and helps send you to sleep.]
