I think they are called assassin bugs because of being predator insects rather than being deadly to humans. But they are a vector for the parasite that causes chagas disease, which kills 10,000 people a year apparently.

I'm not sure mosquitos carrying malaria, dogs carrying rabies and assassin bugs carrying chagas really count as they aren't causing the death by themselves.
Which makes humans the most deadly animals to humans... and that's just counting actual homicides!
Kind of reminds me of when I used to get scared walking through the graveyard and my mum used to say "it's not the dead people you should be worrying about" lol. Thanks mum, top tip.
