Diluting orange juice is the mutts nuts. And if I get in again, I'm going to make sure I have enough for the full thing as we ran out by Glencoe.
Is the theory not that you should start off taking on complex carbs as your body has time to process those in the first half or 3/4 of the race, then you switch to quick-release stuff like gels later on to ride that wave of energy home?
Notice how I said "theory"... I had a smoked sausage supper at Kinlochleven but I don't remember seeing that in any of the blogs I read last year.
So many things can influence how you feel on race day I guess and even as the race progresses, so just have lots of food/drink options available is probably the only advice that applies to all apart from the elites who'll get by on a few gels and handheld with water in it.

370 entered with 35 minutes to go. As a mathematician dealing with probabilities, I'm starting to become nervous in a way I wasn't at this time last year.
Those entering on the last day should have to start at 2am!

Lol M1nty and Mrs s. It's a huge number and there are going to be a lot of v disappointed people for the first time. Wonder how many will want to be on a waiting list and happy to just hope to get in and commit to training, support crew, accommodation etc without knowing if they'll actually get to start. That's what I'll be doing! G

I'm glad I didn't enter as I'd hate to have been lucky in the draw and take a place away from a more deserving person. Good luck to you all, hope you are lucky.

Does the fish and chip shop in Kinlochleven do "emergency carp"?

Yeah shanks, you can choose from several types of fish for your supper: hoki and chips, snapper and chips, carp and chips, mullet and chips and the obvious haddock, cod etc. Actually, in a Kiwi chippy, you really do get a choice of many of those!
KJTindall's takeaway of choice at KLL last year was a chicken pie supper - and he ate the lot. An amazing sight to see!
How would you have been taking a place away from someone more deserving FR? Who is "most deserving" of a WHW place? I think for some it might be considered a punishment, not a pleasure! G

I think you need to live it, breathe it, not see it as a tick list. Those that live it and breathe should have the opportunity. Just my view.
