Yes Hanneke - to your 150 squares each way ride question. 300 square [ But we'd have to dob you in for 'not staying local' ![]() I don't know if Fetch does a 'sent home by the poloice, by quickest route not diverting for zones' badge. Although, maybe, 'getting another zone' is on the gov 'reasonable excuse' list? ] |

Thing is, I cannot do Garmin connect... I know I used to, but had difficulties with it 12 years ago. Now the old 301 and slightly less old 800 do nowt, apart from being charged and recording stuff within themselves. I suspect Garmin Connect doesn't support W7 any more...

Um 🤣🤣🤣 I was just speaking hypothetically... Sadly, I havent been out on the bike since May last year, when the closed the Brecon Beacons National Park and I became a prisoner of my own home. It is why I have started running again... 5 miles isn't exactly far for an endurance cyclist... So i havent bothered! I mean, up and down the lane??? No thanks! Even a 5 mile walk is annoying, on the road, as the park is out of bounds... Lovely living in it, until covid came along! |

Seems it should work Hanneke - at least the web has instructions for installing Garmin Express & Garmin Connect. I didn't see any 'no Windows 7' threads? Try installing Garmin Express again? There is a Garmin thread on jammed Edge 800s ... forums.garmin.com My daughter had a similar jam, and I suspect it ws a device full type issue. I added it to my Garmin Express and it loaded fine - messed up my Fetch records & took longer to delete her activity from there ! |

You can plot the routes manually and get conquersize zones (unlike country badges)

um, I may have a go at that... I had Garmin Connect up until 2009, but it won't let me use it now... I have run into a lot of issues having a windows 7 laptop since MS decided to no longer support it. This has meant all third party software suppliers, including Zoom for example, don't support it. I do not wish to spend £600 on a new laptop while all I use it for is my tax admin, invoicing and a bit of internet... For that same reason I don't see why I shouldn't keep using my 301, as it does what I need, and my 800 is actually still a really valid computer, plus it has all the map squares on it from my travels!

It's so frustrating, Hanneke! I had a fab, 2012 lenovo thinkpad (with carbon case which made it very resilient). I eventually had to replace it this time last year because I needed up to date software for wfh. My new laptop has all the latest software and is fast at turning on and off but feels very flimsy and is prone to glitches. I still don't know how to use half its features! I also still have a Garmin 310XT which I bought second hand. I replaced it with a vivoactive which I use as both smartwatch and training watch but there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. I hate the way some firms don't make their programmes backwards compatible so you have to upgrade all the time. (Apple, I am looking at you.) Phones are the worst for this. It's ridiculous to need to replace them every two years. |

ITG exactly that! I have just been organising plant orders and quotes on my very reliable W7 laptop. The hardware is alo pretty up tp date, as this is my old work laptop from when we liquidated the business. It was quite new then and the highest spec. When I looked at replacing/upgrading it, I would have to pay £600 just to run W10 on a machine that is lower quality, less fast etc!!! I just refuse the fact that things are built to become obsolete and keep doggedly using them! ![]() |

Hann, if you can connect your watch to the laptop via USB, you should be able to upload the fit/gpx/tcx files directly to Fetch.
