CAZ some Garmins have an Open Water Swim [OWS) setting which allows GPS whilst swimming.

If your distance is right in the log you will still get the distance badges. If you want GPS for games you can just log a short distance in the carpark.

For WSWs and the Ocho badge etc, you need to log your swim as a run or walk and then change the activity type after. Unfortunately the GPS distance is not at all acurate in water though, so might be better to log our swim as a swim and have it count your laps without GPS, and then do as LindsD says above, do a quick lap of the car park and convert it to swim after for the GPS x

LindsD that is what I was thinking if all else fails. I know that Garmin has worked indoors when I do classes. It obviously does not like the pool 🙄

Pre Ocho badge, I think when I first got back into swimming and realised I could get some big points in the pool (which at the time covered 2 squares on my grid) I did a warm up 4 laps as a run, and then my normal swim as a swim and converted my warm up 'run' laps back to an actual swim to get my GPS grid points. Felt a right plonker in the pool fiddling with my watch so much... but you know, points...

If I am in the indoor pool and wany my wsw points, I'll leave the watch at the window till it gets a signal then start my swim. It doesn't need a full trace; one hit is enough.
