Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Actually that's a great idea Chris. No past glories! I like it!

Some achievement systems have time limits, if that was applied here the badge would be temporary - unless of course the runner/cyclist/whatever does something new to earn it again. That makes things more about "now" than just being a long service award.

There might be space for recognising old glory and for showing what's new.

Without straying far from the basics, I now have 57 collectible badges. If we look at my entire running career, I think I would get about 35. But I'll be basing the badge collection on efforts logged since Jan 1st.

I've sorted the mechanism out that will check a user to see whether they've unlocked any badges, and I have a page that displays your unlocked badges, and the next ones that are available to you.

I need some way of triggering this check - probably whenever some training is logged. Plus I need something that will send you an fmail when you've unlocked one. And I need a quick opt-out script for the folks that aren't interested.

A day or so? If I can wait that long? :-)

Ok, so what the hell :-) I've made it work so that when you log a bit of training, it'll stick you in the badge queue for appraisal. And as things stand, you can see which badges you've earned by going here:

Next step for me is to add in something that will send you an fmail each time you unlock one.

Is that link supposed to show you the ones you've unlocked? Mine says 'next targets' which include a bike & swim one (never do either) - can I get rid of those? Also - weirdly, run 1km which I have done (although I only log miles...)

About This Thread

See which badges you've unlocked:

fetcheveryone.com/badges.php

If you don't appear to have unlocked any, try feeding something to your training log, and the badge system will get a nudge to assess you.

Got any suggestions for badges that you'd like me to add? Let me know.
