I never ever stretch. I occasionally foam roller tight calves but whether it does anything medium term I’ve no idea. My weakness is lower leg problems and from time to time do calf strengthening exercises, squats and Achilles tendinitis exercises

I’m not naturally ‘strong’ and have been alarmed at times at the deterioration of what upper body strength I did have after passing 55. In fairness I think if I could be bothered I could still build back up. My legs recovered reasonably quickly after my operations plus chemo

And not doing any of it isn't causing you any issues -and gives you more time to do things you do like doing :)

^ that was to V'rap

I don't feel like I've lost much muscular strength as I've got older, but my joints are definitely aging

Fragile Do Not Bend
I nearly said in my previous post that I bet V’rap doesn’t foam roller. :)

Some runners thrive on high mileage whereas others break down or simply can’t be bothered. I’ve done ultras after not running more than 8 miles in the preceding year. It’s not clever and the DOMs can be hell but it’s possible. I’m actually doing the most consistent running and walking I’ve ever done atm and have averaged about 7.5 miles per day of a mixture for the last twelve months. I’m hoping to do a 50 in early July and haven’t really thought about any specific training yet ;-)

So still no idea how I end off injured albeit it not that often these days 😩

Can’t recall when I last used the foam roller around 2-3yrs ago but I’ve put this last 14mths good progress down to the cross training

Heck let’s see I’m nothing if not stubborn. I’m sure if running came easy I would have packed in years ago as it is I have to win 😂

Now stubbornness, that is priceless for ultra running :-)

This maybe a bit tangential but why don’t really fast animals ever do any of this stuff?

My niggly knee is due to non-running incidents as a teen, and is better now with running than it was in my 40s when I thought I was heading for surgery. The last injuries have been stubbed and probably broken toes, so also non-running related.

But the PF that I had back in 2015 has me scared of over doing things and worrying about every minor Gremlin bite - and most seem to be related to either sitting "wrong" on a stool at the kitchen counter, lolling on the sofa or driving and my lower back getting stiff.
Carrying too much extra weight really isn't helping either.

Hence the really slow addition of miles and wondering what else I can do to prevent breakage.
