Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

The Arnouvaz video shows a woman competitor on bare feet through a sort of transition area!

98.7k for Dave. :)

Sam if you've got a guaranteed place and you've not been to Chamonix during UTMB week before I'd recommend you go whatever your reservations. The whole experience is just in a different league to anything that exists in UK ultra running (think Premier League rather than League 2). Just work as hard as you can on your fitness and be prepared to put yourself in a bit of debt early in the race to get clear of the worst of the congestion. My plan is to put a CCC entry in for next year but I'll be at the mercy of the ballot, so I may or may not be there but I'd certainly like to be.

Flyingfinn - I have a guarantee place having been refused in 2018 and 2019, plus enough points still just. (most of my races refuse to pay the utmb tax)

To be honest I like the snack races, one of the reasons I initially stopped road running and switched to trails was I hate the big city races.

Guess I'll have to decide before registration opens on December. Far to many other races as a priority for next year already...

I dropped. I was pretty tight with cutoffs so was struggling to make the 1030pm checkpoint. Halfway up the 8,000ft+ pass, and almighty thunderstorm broke so decided to head back to safety. Almost certainly would have DNF Ed anyway but a massive bolt of lightning when you are holding a pointy stick helps clarify thoughts

UTMB is awesome and you should give it a go. It is ridiculous and quite fun if you don’t take it too seriously

I could pin my cutoffs struggles on the queues but I don’t think it made that big a difference
