CW - Cool, if you want something added to the header at any point, let me know.

Cadence data interesting from yesterday, first three didn't have much drop during the reps (second was only slower because I was blocked at the start), fourth there's a drop during the rep but speed was maintained, the last four cadence drops along with speed. I realised that I may have been pushing and losing cadence before the last rep but I thought I might have dropped it at the start so increased out of the gate when actually the start of all reps was fine and it was just about trying to maintain it as I tire. Something to work on in future sessions.

The performance condition numbers are horrific, lol (-9 to -12), but the positive there is good pace while not fresh.

It got me thinking about how cadence might change in a 800m race for elites. I was hoping I could find cadence data per 100m for Rudisha's WR (WA do some biomechanics studies at some champs and wondered if they'd have the data). Not been able to find anything yet though.

Might have a look and see if they've done it for 400m actually.

Just entered FASTFriday on 9th July. A great grassroots event.
Will be my first serious attempt at the sub 30 10000m.

Nice. The 10000m events that Highgate's event has inspired (along with the 5000m) have been great for track running. Certainly gets more of the those that usually stick to road to try track.

Well, now booked into a 1500m at the end of the month, an 800m a week later and a 200m and 3000m the week after that. So plenty to look forward to there.

As my aim for the 1500m is sub-5, and 80 seconds per lap gives me 5 minutes, what's a good strategy for this? 60, 80, 80 and try and speed up a tiny fraction in the last lap? Or go out a little faster than this and hope not to fade?

It's here data.opentrack.run

It's currently full but given there are only 7 female entries I reckon if you join the waiting list or email Barny Foot, you will get in.

Better second race day here for me today. 2:10.78 800m, a 0.99 PB and open B race win. 63 first lap where I reeled in the fast starters (got to shoulder of the leader at the bell) that helped keep me working throughout the lap rather than settling, then a lonely second lap where I just had to just keep working and a pickup at the end. Some company on the last lap would have been good but happy I did drop too much on the second lap.

About 50 mins later 3000m, plan was 10 min pace (80 per lap) and see how I feel. Think I was on 80 pace for 3.5-4.5 laps, dropped a few secs over the next laps leading into the final lap but I'd started to think about kicking to sub 10 rather than winding things up so just didn't want it to get too tough. Circa 73 last lap to end up with a sub 10 on my watch and seemed to be on the clock as well but not got official time yet (was last race of the night so something may have gone wrong with the final upload of the night).

Oh nice work, SPR! Not sure of the outcome on the 3000 but the 800 must have been satisfying. Yeah sure company on the second lap might have meant a bigger PB - but hope you can see it'll come with the right race.
