Mrs Jigs (Luverlylegs)
Having recently retired, I have new plans and targets, RooA 's blog altered me to this thread, and it seems perfectly timed!

On my list is to improve my upper body strength, and to try new recipes, of course there is a lot more on my list but these are the ones I am starting with.

Thanks for the thread GimmeMedals :-)

I have an instinctive dislike of motivational speakers and pretty much anyone who seems to enjoy public speaking.
I watched the video anyway, and the only takeaway that I still remember (possibly incorrectly) a few days later is that I shouldn't focus on, say, being a faster runner or a stronger weightlifter, but simply on being someone who runs or trains most days.
I was sort of heading towards this conclusion myself anyway. I never set out to be good at mountain bike racing, but after commuting by bike for a while, I found I was a bit faster than most people who don't, so I might as well try the same for running and strength training.

I've come across that thinking too, PSV - more about it being your identity rather than your purpose. Focus on the daily process (habits) more than an end result/goal

Interestingly, I have always done that... I just loved running and riding my bike. From that came the fact I was good at it. However: as soon as I started aiming for PBs and stuff, things would derail and I'd get injured and lost the joy as pressure to perform mounted.

I'm back on this for Lent, so today is day 3/46 (I'm aware Sundays are supposed to be exempt but I'm including them).

Tiny habits being done consistently:
- resistance training 4 times a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday)
- listen to Audible for personal development [stacked onto]
- daily run or walk [stacked onto]
- getting out in fresh air whatever the weather
- drinking 2.5-3 litres a day
- calorie deficit, eating nutritious food

I'm currently listening to Atomic Habits by James Clear and working on self-compassion and keeping my inner voice positive.

A thread for any who wants to improve, develop or change. Significant change grows out of small good habits done consistently. Consistently doesn't mean 100% perfection but does require effort and repetition. It takes time, dedication, healthy decisions and maybe some sacrifice.

Set a realistic outcome/goal/target/identity.
What habits do you need to do consistently to enable you to reach that outcome?

Start - focus on the right habits, make them your priority every day. Record each d...
