Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Oh dear doghouse again, missed 2 birthdays because my podgy fingers always hit 2 not 1. Apologies. Also for the lyrics. Used to go there every Easter when v young. Wabo nice long run. Just a 9.7m walk with Peter with a few jogs thrown in. Beautiful if chilly morning.

Hello everyone - sorry I've been AWOL again.

But I have been running. Well, plodding more like.

Good luck for tomorrow's race, @HazelnutCH

And I hope all parkrunners will be having a good time tomorrow.

We had a lovely week of spring here last week with up to 18 degrees but now it's another cold spell unfortunately. Although the birds are having none of it. For them it's very clearly spring.

So today's run was a 5k slow and 5k a bit quicker. I think I definitely need to de-plod a bit. I'M scared though because any form of speedwork has led to injuries in the past 😥

I didn't know today's lyrics (but did know today's date - and how to correct it! 🤣)
8 mile walk with Elspeth along West coast of Orkney (Els did an extra bit). Legs still shot.

Happy Birthday Veloci!

Chick, good to see you! I wouldn't do speedwork either if it gave me injuries. Mine seem to be more with cumulative miles hence having a lazy week this week. Though probably ran a couple of miles today as left P to do an extra bit and didn't want him hanging around waiting. Enjoyed a bit of real trail!
Hazel, I would happily eat the egg shaped ones too but had some of the balls as my Christmas present from R!

Happy birthday to @Velociraptor

So my long run was pretty horrible. I used a jeffing strategy 1 mile then 1 min walk. Feet go so dead every time I go over the 6-8 mile mark which makes the rest so hard. Tripped over a tree root when right foot just couldn't pick up properly. But rolled onto my side and banged my hip somehow (it's fine).

I just wish I knew what to do about my feet - I'm now thinking I need to buy new balance 2e width but it's so hard to find them and they're so expensive.

I want a magic wand

Wabo - have you tried different ways of lacing your trainers? Tight laces can put pressure on the tops of your feet, making them go numb.
I get that on long runs sometimes if my feet get too hot and swell up.

Have you tried Altra - even their standard fit is fairly wide. They also do a wide fitting.
