What's the opposite of a newt? My run today was on the path next to the ring road. For as long as I've been running marathons I've used that path for evening MP runs, because it's the only bit round here that's even close to being flat and isn't lined with shops. They're closing it for 16 weeks to widen and resurface the path (which will be great, because it is rather narrow in places and the tree roots have started to become a problem), but that does mean tonight was my last run on there for the time being. Luckily the stay at home order lifts on Monday and club training resumes, so I'll have some other options.

I have just used my newt bolster for the first time, drumming up the courage to get out and do some work. My shoulder is very sore though, sun co.ing out, contemplating donning newt kit and go for a walk in stead, gently swinging my sore arm...
Then decide if I am up to a few hours after lunch.

The Great Raemondo
It's a bit too brisk and breezy for eating lunch in the garden to be comfortable today, but I spent a good 15 minutes just observing all the changes and new growth in the raised bed and wall of wisteria before coming in and sitting in the sunshine on the sofa with my cous-cous.
Susan the magnolia (that's not me being cutesy, it's just the name of the type of magnolia, apparently. It has dark purple flowers and reminds me of Death's granddaughter from the discworld) has lots of buds, so will hopefully get a good number of flowers this year. It was planted at the end of its flowering season last year, so we didn't really get to enjoy it fully. Lots of fresh crocosmia and iris shoots, as well, and lots of buds looking set to burst forth any day on the purple thing that flowers forever (it probably has a name... no idea what).
The Wisteria is always slow to get going in the leaf department, tiny nubs starting to show but we'll have a while yet before enjoying any greenery worth mentioning. Last year we had a lot of flowers even before the foliage though, and lots more waves of flowers up until September/October, so hopefully set for a similarly voluptuous showing this year. There are a few leaves on the honeysuckle, which is slowly colonising the archway from the other side, so I remain hopeful that it will hold its own against the rampant wisteria.
