Half of year 9 out, other half just returned, 90 percent year 10 out, two year 7s out. On a positive note, has given me time to finish exams marking and reports 😁

Our Autism unit all got sent home today, 13 children and about half a dozen staff members, as one had tested positive. We had another case a few weeks back, that took out several staff members (myself included) as the parents had sent a child in who had been off for two days with a cough, and subsequently tested positive. They didn't tell us for a few days, either...

Half of Year 5 were isolating because of a positive case amongst the children last week. Which also took out some of our after school tutoring groups, and some of the staff who run them.

We picked up youngest from Leeds at the weekend - the average age in his area is 22, which means cases are high, as they are mostly unvaccinated...

Half the school seems to be out at the moment. One family, with three positive children across three years, has taken out around 10 staff, myself included. Then there's another family, again with 3 in 3 separate years, all with symptoms but not actually testing, so their classes are still in, for now, until someone else tests positive. WHat a great time to relax bubbles and do away with facemasks!

Mrs TR retired (early!) today after 18 years as a teaching assistant (latterly HLTA) at our local primary school. Among the many gifts she got was the following plaque from one of the children. With all the hassle of the last year or so, something that it is easy to forget

There are enough educators on here that I thought it might be nice to have somewhere supportive to rant and problem solve.
