Although I gave a talk to prospective students in Germany today and one of them asked how much the fees were. If we are not given scholarships to make up the fee difference I might not have a job in Sept. Which might be a blessing.

Any DfE moles around today? What sort of changes to the guidance for primary schools might we see? Working in bubbles is making everything SO hard at the moment.

Wow, it's been very quiet here lately. I'm guessing that's because we've all been so busy that coming up for air hasn't been an option. Semester finished last week, so some marking left, but have that "What am I going to do for the summer feeling?", followed by the "All the things" optimism and the "I actually could do with a break" feeling.
Cyclops, I'm not sure if we have any DfE moles on here, but hope someone responds.

Sadly, I've seen or heard nothing from up here in the rarefied air of my ivory tower
I had a full week *off* work the week before last. Now just have to timetable three schools for 2021-22 before I can have the next break.
Still have 11 days' holiday as yet unused, which I need to use before the 1 Sep, and no way of using them for anything I want to do!

Cyclops - I had a letter from my union a couple of weeks ago saying that bubbles may well be in place in September over here (Northern Ireland). We have just had a reshuffle at Stormont though so we now have a new Minister for Education. Hopefully, she will be better at communicating with teaching staff than the outgoing minister. We were used to having to keep an eye on the BBC website to find out what was happening.

I'm still teaching (HE, exceptional Jan start). We are really worried about getting ready for Sept when we don't finish until August.

We have a looming overlap for our MSc, because they had a Feb start for "20/21", but aren't delaying 21/22.

Yup. Exactly that. Awful. And I have jury service for two weeks in August.

how's it going at your schools? we have two teachers in our Dept sent home today as they are deemed close contacts of covid cases, one year 9 class off and a class of year 8's sent home as well. It has the same feeling as we did before xmas last year.
