If she looks behind her, she'll see the building we got married in...

(As you can see, I got my name on the scoreboard at Lord's ๐Ÿ˜Ž)

Gatting wasn't there - but when I arrived, Mike Atherton was being interviewed in the Writing Room (which, of course, is just across the corridor from the Long Room. The Long Room, in case I hadn't mentioned it, being the room that I got married in ๐Ÿ˜†)

I'm wondering - unless MrsS is a fan - how on earth you swung it (ahem) as a venue? But top work

MrS' dad (now sadly having taken that last long walk back to the pavilion) was a big fan, and that rubbed off on her a little. We took her parents to a Eng v Aus ODI at Lord's back in 2009(ish). I didn't realise at the time it was the first time he'd seen England live - and we both have great memories of the day, so I think that helped.

Plus, she loved it as a venue - and the catering was absolutely incredible.

We followed it with the holiday of a lifetime - 2 of days in Melbourne (including a tour of the MCG), 3 weeks in NZ (which has cemented itself as my favourite place in all the world), 2 days in Brisbane (including the 2nd day at the Gabba - not England's finest hour), a couple of nights in Singapore and then back to Blighty in time for Christmas.

There's still a bottle of MCC Champagne in the wine cellar*, waiting for a special occasion.

*It's actually a shelf in the spare room.
