Of course she was allowed. :-) It was pretty funny - she made very short work of dismembering/disembowelllng it!

That particular ball of Monty’s is now no more but he’s convinced we’ve just hidden it because he keeps barking in the places where it used to get stuck. He’s got other balls of course but that was his favourite.

And no doubt on that occasion we told the story of how BaronBR proudly came home from the shops one day having purchased an 'indestructible ball' that would defeat any dog - and how it lasted approximately 30 seconds before being reduced to shreds of rubber.

I still find it fascinating how different the different breeds are. Ernie loves a ball and loves being chased around the house for a pheasant shaped toy (or socks or rolled up scarf) but would never destroy them. My sister's BT used to rip her toys to shreds. I guess that's the difference between dogs bred for retrieving and those bred for ratting.

Luna is currently chewing a large heavy nylabone. She’s not mastered the art of holding the damn thing still though, so it’s clattering off the floor so loudly that I can’t hear the TV.

Oh what gorgeous spanners! I’m trying to convince myself that getting another dog would be too much work but find myself on rescue sites looking for young spaniels quite frequently…

There is a rather gorgeous brown 3 yr old male WC spaniel in Cambridge waiting for the right owner (yes, I also find myself on the rescue sites!)

A WC would take up less room in the van than a springer…

I love spaniels although our cocker is not a typical cocker. He doesn't play with balls, fetch anything etc and only this last year at the age of 11 has started to go in water!

Everyone needs a pocket spaniel, Rosehip. ;-)

Henry (who actually a cockerpoo godlovehim, looks like a springer somehow but is cocker-sized) is very portable. The other two are less so. Only a few kg difference but it is noticeable that Henry is a small dog, whereas the other too just cross over into medium, take up just that bit more space etc. I haven't weighed Henry for a bit but suspect he's about 12 to 13kg. Oscar and Hugo are both 17 to 18kg.

Our Spaniel will fetch a ball, but no chance you're getting it back to throw again.
