First choice and reserve both are No's. the hD in Physics kills any chance of a clearing place at a sensible Uni doing something Maths/Engineering related
Resits next summer, as 7/8 weeks to get back up to speed and it exams, having not been in school since mid-March is unrealistic.

I am seething at the injustice of the adjusted grades, but at least he has his uni place. Must be so hard for those who are missing out on their deserved places in September
An absolute shit-show.

Awful situation for you both CStar. For what it's worth, I think you're doing the right thing in the situation.

I resat my alevels and in the long run it was all fine I even sold it as a strength of learning to knuckle down in later interviews. But I got to take exams I was ill prepared for not have a score based on something I wasn’t expecting. So even though it may all come out in the wash this is very hard

DocM
we have been kept waiting until this morning before being rejected by both of the boys 1st choice unis.
Its a house of grimness at the moment but im sure in time, maths at UCL and mechatronics at Southampton will feel like good choices

So sorry to read this DocM but I do believe that these things happen for good reasons, although these circumstances are most definitely not good reason.
They will both have a wonderful time.

So sorry Doc. What a hideous wait for your lads and you and a disappointment at the end.
Can’t help feeling this is a kick them when they’re down situation and could have been handled much better.

Sorry to hear Doc, I'm sure they will both enjoy their respective universities but i can understand it feeling like an injustice, it is
Hearing of so many losing their places because of the algorithm. We're so lucky Nathan got his place despite the disappointing grades.

That's so tough Doc, and the mayhem wreaked by the algorithm is unjustifiable. And the GCSEs are meant to be worse. I'm not surprised the govt are trying to tough it out, but really it's heartless and cloth-eared and wrong.
But maybe the boys will meet people they wouldn't otherwise have met, make friends they wouldn't have had and think maybe it worked out in some ways in the end.
